Siemens Releases Tool to Detect SCADA Worm (7/28/10)
Siemens released a tool to detect and remove a Trojan worm infecting the company’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software. The software is used in controlling and monitoring U.S. critical infrastructure facilities and other industrial processes.
The tool makes it possible for customers to detect and disinfect malware attacking its software used to control power grids, gas refineries and factories. The solution is called Sysclean, a malware scanner made by Trend Micro. It has been updated to remove Stuxnet, a worm that spreads by exploiting two separate vulnerabilities in Siemens’ SCADA software and every supported version of Microsoft Windows.
The tool is available here.
