French Airport Deploys Sepura Indoor Location Technology (7/16/12)
Sepura’s indoor monitoring and location technology was deployed in a new digital communications system at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, France. Covering an area of 2,000 hectares, the airport handles around 8 million passengers a year, and the solution offers the ability to locate the position of radios to improve the management and safety of its resources.
The technology comprises STProtect-enabled radios, beacons and software. In addition to locating lone workers, the system also enables organizations to control access to certain areas of sites, monitor the location and movement of all deployed radios, and provide users, such as maintenance engineers and security guards, with set routes and checkpoints.
The system works with higher-specification models of the Sepura STP8000 and STP9000 series of hand-held radios to provide a built-in communications and location system. STProtect is targeted at sectors that demand the multiple benefits of a TETRA radio system, but also must monitor and locate staff indoors.
