Harris Receives $10M Radios and Broadband Satellite Terminals Order(7/30/12)
Harris received a $10 million order to supply the government of Canada with Falcon III multiband manpack radios and satellite terminals.

The Harris Falcon III AN/PRC-117G radios and RF-7800B Broadband Global Area Networking (BGAN) terminals will provide Canadian military forces with an integrated solution for Type-1 secure voice and data communications in both line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight applications. Integrated together, the radios and satellite terminals support network-enabled applications such as streaming video and collaborative chat.

“Harris Falcon III products and systems are meeting the growing demands for wideband data and tactical networking in countries around the world,” said Brendan O’Connell, president, international business unit, Harris RF Communications. “The system we’re delivering will provide Canadian forces with greater situational awareness and command and control in the full range of mission environments.”

The tactical radios provide situational awareness through wideband networking of the battlefield. Software-defined and upgradeable, the radios enable applications such as streaming video, simultaneous voice and data feeds, collaborative chat, and connectivity to secure networks. The BGAN satellite solution provides reliable voice and wideband data connectivity for beyond line-of-sight SATCOM-on-the-move and SATCOM-at-the-quick-halt applications. Canada is acquiring both the vehicular-based and mobile RF-7800B BGAN terminals.
