Motorola to Supply TETRA Radios to Stockholm Fire Services (8/9/12)
Motorola Solutions announced that its digital radio partner Celab won a frame contract for the next four years to supply a portfolio of TETRA digital radio terminals, accessories and services for four fire brigades in greater Stockholm covering 27 municipalities. The contract represents the single largest agreement for digital radio terminals with rescue services in Sweden, company officials said.

The solutions will enable the fire services to move from analog to digital communications by providing rugged devices with better performance in voice and data transmission, increased efficiency through remote terminal management and reliability through secure encrypted communications. Additionally, fire brigades can communicate with a touch of a button across mission-critical agencies on the nationwide RAKEL emergency network.

Motorola will supply more than 850 digital TETRA radio terminals. The contract contains extensive services and consultancy, including training, technical support, programming of terminals, and setup and management of a Web-based ordering system for the organizations.

“Fire services in Sweden are aiming toward a modernization of their communications technology,” said Kent Lundqvist, Greater Stockholm Fire Services. “Following a competitive tender that included extensive trials, we selected Motorola’s digital TETRA terminal solutions and services.”
