P25 Vendors Plan Product Announcements, Demos at APCO (8/17/12)
The Project 25 Technology Interest Group (PTIG) announced 25 members will exhibit at the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International conference and exhibition next week. The following companies announced demonstrations or products ahead of the show.

Avtec will again demonstrate the Fixed Station Interface (FSI) in its booth with real equipment. Avtec will also discuss its deliverable Console Subsystem Interface (CSSI) interface for P25 trunking applications.

Cassidian Communications booth exhibits will be supplemented by other conference activities on P25 including APCO Theater presentations. Cassidian Communications will feature a call-to-car multimedia demonstration.

Catalyst Communications will demonstrate its P25 Consoles with Tait and Harris RF stations, using the P25 standards.

Icom America will broaden its P25 product line by introducing the FR7000 series, a new P25 110-watt 100 percent duty cycle repeater based on an existing platform.

ModUcom will demonstrate the P25 FSI features of the UltraCom IP communications console with various vendors’ P25 conventional fixed base stations. Demonstrations will include equipment from Daniels Electronics, Midland Radio and Tait Communications.

Simoco will showcase P25 simulcast base stations. The compact two rack unit bases feature Simoco’s distributed architecture over IP design, resulting in strong wide-area coverage.

Tait Communications will unveil its P25 Phase 2 TDMA portfolio and conduct demonstrations of the TN9400 core network, TB9400 base station, TP9400 portable radio and TM9400 mobile radio. The Phase 2 solution provides 12.5-kilohertz P25 Phase 1 FDMA operation and a software upgrade path to 6.25-kilohertz-equivalent P25 Phase 2 TDMA compliance. Tait also is showcasing a self-contained rapid response communications tower that provides partial replacement or backup to damaged, destroyed or overburdened radio communications assets. The repeater system, which operates in narrowband analog and digital P25 modes, supports both 800 MHz and VHF frequencies and is located on a trailer for easy deployment.

Thales again features the Liberty Multiband portable radio, which has completed P25 Compliance Assessment Program (CAP) testing. The multiband radios demonstrate P25 flexibility for multiagency operation in all the public-safety frequency bands.

Zetron will collaborate with Cassidian to demonstrate its P25 CSSI interoperability with Zetron as the console end and Cassidian as the RF Subsystem (RFSS) end.

Also, Zetron and Daniels Electronics announced the successful testing of Zetron’s P25 CSSI with the Daniels Electronics P25 trunked radio system, ensuring seamless operation of Zetron’s Advanced Communications (Acom) system and Daniels’ trunked P25 system.

EF Johnson will demonstrate the ATLAS P25 system at this year’s show, after launching the system at the event last year.
