Hall Appointed President of Global Alliance of APCO Partners (8/31/12)
The Presidents Council of the Global Alliance of APCO Partners met at the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International Conference and Expo. At the meeting APCO Australasia Chairman Geoff Spring transferred the role of chair of the council for the next year to APCO International's Terry Hall, who was also appointed president of APCO International.

While it has been a period of intense activity, the council made good progress during the past year reviewing and strengthening the governance arrangements applying to the Global Alliance, setting strategic direction and fostering new global relationships and affiliations, Spring said. In June, an alliance among the Global Alliance, the TETRA and Critical Communications Association (TCCA) and the Public Safety Communications Research Laboratories (PSCR) was announced to raise the awareness of the need for mission-critical standards for Long Term Evolution (LTE).

"Affiliations such as these between global representative bodies dealing with truly global issues has to be the way of the future," said Spring.

Spring is a member of the P25 Steering Committee representing APCO International and APCO Australasia. He will attend the committee meetings the first week of September.
