FCC Gives Port Authority Extension to Construct World Trade Center Stations (9/10/12)
The FCC granted a request from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeking a one-year extension to construct World Trade Center (WTC) stations. The port authority will have until Sept. 10, 2013, to construct and return the WTC stations to operational status without forfeiting the licenses for permanent discontinuance of operation.

Because of the “unique and unusual circumstances” of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the vital role of the stations for public-safety communications, the FCC said it granted the request.
